Updates...Literally

So...you've just seen the new carpet, so I thought I'd share some of these landmarks made in our kitchen.

First up, is the bead board we installed on the ends of our cabinets to give them a nice updated cottage feel. It was super easy...I took the measurements, and Lowes did the cutting for me. I just had to glue and nail-that's it.

Next on the list was the hardware...this picture is a strange angle, but you get to see our disgusting vinyl tile that is being replaced...makes me shudder just looking at this picture, but makes me love my wood floor even more.
We have replaced the lighting before, but I just didn't like the lack of light. I found this lovely fixture at Lowes after standing in the aisle forever admiring it...I bought it. My husband was thrilled to install another light {sarcasm}, but it was truly needed. If you look at the table you can see 3 light shades...this week we are installing a track light with hanging pendant lights over our middle counter-we'll no longer have a half lit kitchen (I tore out the fluorescent light).
One of our most exciting moments yet...a new dishwasher. It cleans like a dream! Nevermind that it took us (meaning Chris) 3 days to install because just as 9 pm hit and Lowes closed, Chris realized that the part we had didn't work or that we needed another part.

I'm finally excited (as much as I can be) about doing the dishes! Notice the towel sitting in the picture? Note to self: when you replace a dishwasher things tend to get covered in water! Thank you Chris for all your hardwork...and patience.
