'I think most of us intuitively understand how important the fundamentals are. It is just that we sometimes get distracted by so many things that seem more enticing.' -Dieter F. Uchtdorf
I love this statement from Uchotdorf's talk 'Of Things That Matter Most' . In sports you are taught its all about the fundamentals...so why not in everyday life?! Chris and I have been uber busy...which is what this talk is all about...slowing down and focusing on what matters-and doing the small things.
Example:
My brakes have been needing to be changed-Chris usually does this, but because of school and work its been nearly impossible. Early this week Chris told me he would take my car in between classes to take a look at them. So, I got to drive his manly truck, while he worked away diligently on my car. In appreciation for him doing my brakes, I filled up his gas tank! I didn't tell him. The next day, while talking to me on the cellular, on his way home for work-he stopped in the middle of a sentence- "Oh, thank you Tiff. Thanks for the full tank.' It melted my heart-he changed the way he was talking to a softer tone. Amazing what little acts of service can do-the feeling of deep gratitude it creates is incomparable.
