Flu-ish or Something
So that past few days I have been a little under the weather. I have had fevers over 100, but really didn't want to miss school since we have a short week. Luckily, I made it to today...now I am off...now I can rest. Anywho, during my conference period which is 12:30-2, I would sleep in my car. I was out cold for the whole time. I set my alarm to go off 5 minutes before I had to be to class, because I knew I wouldn't wake up on my own. Today I was doing pretty bad and one of my students told me I needed to get better, so he went to the vending machines, and brought me back an Orange Powerade and animal crackers. Such a sweet kid. He is a little freshman...who is viewed by other teachers as corrupt and a bad student. He is not the only one that I have seen other teachers do this. I have a girl student who apparently doesn't do her work in other classes. She is great in my class, granted I have to remind her to do her work, but I have another student who helps her stay on task. The other teachers insisted that no good will ever come out of her. Its mainly the older teachers (not saying all older teachers are that way). I wish that more teachers would give these poor students a chance to shine instead of waiting for them to crash and burn.

10 Friendly Remarks:
Ah, I'm so sorry you're sick! This stuff that's going around is just nasty. I can't believe you made it through work! I am so impressed by you as a teacher and coach.
What a fantastic teacher/coach you are! When you expect the best from people, I think it inspires them to do their best. It's encouraging to have someone who believes in you and expects you to excel. It makes my heart happy that you believe in the kids others have given up on. I'm certain you are making a difference in their lives.
I know what you mean! Even when I substitute teach, I can sense that certain kids know they are getting sent to the principal's office so they just act up and so they can go there sooner. They must be thinking, "why delay the inevitable?" It is pretty sad.
Sorry to hear you are sick! I hope you get better soon!
You know, believe it or not, I was once one of those kids that teachers constantly said I would amount to nothing and that I might as well drop out of school because I was wasting everyone's time. Well, long story short, I proved to them they were all wrong and I graduated from the University that I was told by my school counselor and Vice Principle that I would never get into that school and I shouldnt even try. So, never give up on those kids, they need love and encouragement just as much as the students that seem to be trying. They just need someone to believe in them and tell them they ARE good enough!!
I know exactly what you mean! When I was teaching I had so many students like that, it is too bad teachers act like they are too busy to care or help the ones along that need a little extra push! It sounds like you are a great teacher!
I'm sorry you are sick, rest up for your days off now. I think you are such a great teacher, you definitely found your calling in life.
You are such a great person and teacher! We need more teachers like you in this crazy world!
Hey! Thanks for your comment on our blog. How fun you are in San Antonio too! Your doggie pictures are so cute!
From what you write...you just sound like an amazing person. How lucky are these kids to have you as a teacher to influence their life for good. You never know the people you affect and the impression you are leaving. Great work Tiff..keep it up. You amaze me and inspire me to be better.
Oh my goodness, what sweet kids you have! You must be one awesome teacher, I am so glad you give those kids a chance, i really think that is all they need! Way to go on being such a great teacher!
